Love and Sate

source unknown

Today I have a bloody throat and outside it's like monsoon weather. I had porridge, and clementine juice with honey, hot water and 10 year old whiskey, and felt better. I worry about the bumblebees when it rains like this. How can you sip flowers when the world is wetter than the ocean? Do they all just stay at home hungry for the day?
I leave for Africa one week away today. I'll be gone until September but you can hear from me here.

You can have a little and you can have a lot, but sometimes, regardless, you just want more.

Bright Sight, Dark Memory

My sisters made this happen.

This makes me think of New York.

A best friend took this photograph.

You are a shining shadow.

Little Maid in Adelaide

REMEMBER me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

- Christina Rossetti

The copper plated leaf is going to Oz around the neck of one of my favourite people. The posy of flowers was for my best friend's little sister on her 18th birthday. The dress is China silk and used to belong to my grandma.
Today is for chicken soup and making crab apple jelly with my ma, and a belated birthday.

No Girls Allowed

Stargazing at the stone circle and seeing sunrise day after day, Somerset cider and silent discos and the best breakfast sandwiches. Beautiful people, beautiful music and the most blisteringly beautiful weather. Glastonbury 2010 was such an amazing experience. I've never felt so much in the right place at the right time.

King Charles, The Avett Brothers, Ray Davies, The Temper Trap, Local Natives, The xx, Laura Marling, Avi Buffalo, Jack Johnson, The Unthanks, Mumford and Sons, Grizzly Bear, Miike Snow, Two Door Cinema Club, Frightened Rabbit...there are some acts I missed and desperately want to see somewhere one day, but I knew each day that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
