Leave of Absence

Today I move out of my first year university flat. It is sad and hopeful and scary and exciting.

This is a pied wagtail. There is a pied wagtail called Tim who plays in my courtyard. I hope Tim will be okay after I'm gone.
I'm going back home, to catch up with old friends and get ready for the summer. But I won't be there long until I have to leave again.

It is both a beginning and an end.

Runaway

I woke up with...
asleep on my floor.

Today, I have been enjoying chocolate cream buns and Whirling Dervish smoothies, mediterranean sunshine and packing like a maniac, and serenading this little love with...

A lovely last day.

I love to own, however briefly, something that doesn't belong to me, something that isn't necessarily new but feels it. I love borrowing, putting someone else's things together in a way they wouldn't, in a way that makes them mine for a while.
A dress, a book, a moment, a song.

Young and Fearless

I am back, safe and sound, from a whirlwind adventure in France. We flew to Nice, took a bus to Cannes, and staked out the last days of the film festival.
It was a dream...red carpets and white wine, Belle Roscoe and Wattstax on the Cinema de la Plage, a multitude of tuxedo'd men and bejwelled women, the cutest 1950s diner, sunbathing on the beach and splashing in the surf...
Yes I Cannes.

Bon Chance

I am so lucky when I sit down and look at my life.
As of tomorrow, my exams will be finished and my first year at university will be over. To celebrate, on Saturday I'm going away on a secret adventure. Viva la spontaneity! I'll tell you all about it on Tuesday when I return...

P.S. 200th!

Cardiomyopathy

Birds lift my heart to heights unknown. Is there a ceiling for such an entity?

I Still Hate Mondays

Healthy eating (as well as sporadic gym-going) has been put forward as a priority ever since I realised that I've just over a month until Cyprus, and that I need to be fitter than I've ever been if I'm going to hold my own when I'm out there.

However, I'm just far too self-indulgent at times to resist a good treat, but I don't feel too guilty because I always share. This is was a great big brownie-like nutty biscuit toffee-chunked cakey tray bake, and possibly the greatest baking achievement I've achieved in a while - which isn't hard, considering I've not been paying the oven proper respects recently.

And speaking of treats, I went to Glasgow last week with two lovely girls and came home laden with all kinds of good things. After being here almost nine months, I can't believe I've left it so long to go. Next year, Glasgae, next year...promise I'll be a frequent visiter.

top - handmedown thermal, skirt - carboot sale, necklace - vintage gift

Lover, You Should Have Come Over

I only wish for whitewashed walls,
A house with hardwood floors,
A fireplace, a soft warm bed
And you at my front door.

I did a photoshoot and interview with the other volunteers for the Barnardo's magazine; I thought victory rolls were terribly appropriate as a representative of a vintage clothing shop. I can't wait until my exams are over so I can party like it's 1945.

Look familiar? I'm going to miss being silly with Angelica. Canada, you can't have her back, you just can't!
